Baptism

Why should I?

  • To follow the example set by Christ - Mark 1:9
  • Because Christ commanded it - Matt 28:19-20
  • It demonstrates that I really am a believer - Acts 18:8, 1 John 2:3

We practice baptism by immersion under water - the way Jesus was baptized and the way the Bible commands.

What is the Meaning?

  • It illustrates Jesus' burial and resurrection - 1 Cor 15:3-4, Col 2:12
  • It illustrates my new life as a Christian - Rom 6:4, Eph 2:8-9

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward commitment.

Why Immersion?

  • Because Jesus was baptized that way - Matt 3:16
  • Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion - Acts 8:38-39
  • The word "baptize" actually means "to plunge into water."
  • Immersion bestsymbolizes a burial and resurrection - 2 Cor 5:17

Who Should be Baptized?

  • Every person who has believed in Christ - Acts 2:41, Acts 8:13, Acts 8:12

When Should I be Baptized?

  • As soon as you have beieved - Acts 2:41, Acts 8:35-38

There is no reason to delay. As soon as you have decided to receive Christ into your life, you can and should be baptized. If you wait until you are "perfect" you'll never be ready.

"For when you were baptized, you were buried with christ, and in baptism, you were also raised with Christ." Colossians 2:12
